Wrecked 'Wolf of Wall Street' Lambo could sell for millions

The producers ruined a real Countach for the film, and its auction by Bonhams could see a US$2-million hammer

It isn't often that an auction house would highlight the damage on a car going across its block as a good thing -- but in this case, the wrecked body panels are part of the car's provenance. Yes, at the Bonhams event in Abu Dhabi scheduled for late November 2023, bidders will be afforded the chance to take home a Lamborghini Countach used by Leo DiCaprio as the hero car in The Wolf of Wall Street.

Anyone who has seen the flick knows the score -- Leo's high-flying character manages to totally hose the car during an ill-fated drive following an overindulgence of typically '80s consumables. And, yes, Martin Scorsese chose to wreck a real limited-edition 25th Anniversary Countach instead of deploying some movie magic to create the same effect.

Hey, no one said art was easy. Or cheap.

And it's unlikely this car will be cheap when it crosses the auction block either, despite its battered bodywork. Fun fact: the Lamborghini appeared for better than three minutes in the film, with an undamaged backup car getting only a few seconds of screen time.
